Sammie Deiorio

Student

Hi! I’m Sammie DeIorio, a senior at James Madison University, majoring in Media Arts and Design with a concentration in Advertising and minoring in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication.

As a wellness advocate, I’m passionate about maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle, which I believe is key to thriving during college and beyond. Whether it’s through mindful eating, regular exercise, or prioritizing balance, I strive to create habits that keep me motivated and fulfilled.

When I’m not in class, I love experimenting with Mediterranean recipes—my favorite cuisine—for a healthy, flavorful way to recharge. To stay energized and clear-headed, you can often find me at a cycling class, my go-to workout that combines challenge and fun.

Hannah Lifrieri

Student

My name is Hannah Lifrieri and I am a senior at James Madison University majoring in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communications.

Food has always been a fundamental part of my life. Growing up in a traditional Italian household, every birthday, celebration, and gathering revolved around food. It wasn’t just about eating; it was about coming together. From a young age, I loved watching my mom cook, captivated by her skill and passion. When I couldn’t sleep as a kid, I’d sneak downstairs and watch the Food Network, finding comfort in the culinary world until I finally drifted off.

My mom made amazing traditional Italian dishes, but she also enjoyed trying out cuisines from around the world. One of my favorite dishes she created was her Pad Thai. Growing up in a home where cooking was an important value it made me so excited when I moved out of my dorm and into my first college apartment. For the first time, I could cook for myself and share meals with friends, just like my mom did for our family.
