Affordable and Convenient Fitness

Okay, so now you have a better understanding of the types of fitness you enjoy and what you would find ideal for your fitness routine. Now how do you create a more active lifestyle with little time and money to spare? The good news is that the most difficult part of this process is over with, and implementing more activity into your week can be done in a way that doesn’t have to disrupt your weekly routine.

Living an active lifestyle is attainable, even with a busy schedule and a tight budget. There are tons of ways to start an exercise routine on a budget and on a time crunch, but these are just a few of the tips that I found most helpful:

1. Set Realistic Goals

One of the best ways to stay motivated in your fitness journey is to set achievable goals. Instead of overshooting when it comes to exercise, start with small, manageable goals. For example, commit to doing a 10-minute workout three times a week or simply aim to walk for 15 minutes each day. This can help create a habit of getting in movement without adjusting your schedule too much.

2. Set Aside Time For Fitness

This tip goes hand in hand with setting realistic goals. Once you have a better idea of how much time you are willing and able to give to your fitness goals, start setting aside time throughout your week to achieve these goals. Treating your exercise time like any of your other daily tasks will allow you to start making a routine that works around your lifestyle.

3. Utilize Free Resources

Contrary to belief that many of us have, almost all types of exercise can be adjusted to be of little to no cost. While you may have to get creative, most types of activity can be done without having to buy anything new. For example, youtube videos, like the ones I talked about earlier, can provide the same instruction for your workouts as a workout class would. Finding nearby areas to walk/run outside have the same, if not benefits as a treadmill. Many weightlifting workouts can be done with just a set of dumbbells, or even heavy items around your house.

4. Join a Friend

Having a friend accompany you to your workouts can not only help you stay accountable, but it can also help you learn and teach you a lot of useful tricks. Also, many gyms allow guest passes for members, which could be useful if you are unable to get a gym membership yourself.

And most importantly, remember to enjoy your time being physically active!
